The ATA reported earlier this month that driver turnover is on the rise at large-scale trucking companies. At the same time, driver turnover is decreasing with smaller trucking fleets.
“The increase in the turnover rate at large carriers matches up with what we’ve been hearing anecdotally from fleets,” ATA Chief Economist Bob Costello said in a press release. “…The market for drivers continues to be tight.”
Again, the idea that a particular truck driver is prone to job-hopping doesn’t necessarily make that driver less safe.
