The attorneys at the Levar Law Injury & Accident Lawyers are happy to announce the runners up for our 2017 Safe Arkansas Scholarship, Julian Ricks and Arianna Leeper. For their hard work in high school and their innovative video submissions both will receive a $150 Amazon gift cards.
Don’t Be the One to Look Away
Julian’s video demonstrated how teens can be easily distracted while driving. The video starts with Julian’s friend getting in the passenger side of his car. Julian wouldn’t start driving until his friend put on his seatbelt; his friend proceeded to do so (annoyed) and joked by calling Julian “mom.” However, if they were to get in an accident, the seatbelt would save his friend’s life. Later, Julian’s friend tried to show him a video of someone doing an impossible basketball shot. Julian refused to look at the video because he needed to focus on driving. The video ends with a PSA, warning how easily teens can be distracted while driving and to not take your eyes off the road–even for a second. Julian graduated from Mills High School in May and will be attending the University of Arkansas at Little Rock.
One Last Ride
Arianna, our third place winner, also turned her 60 second video into a Public Service Announcement. The video begins with Arianna and her friend singing to a song in the car at a full stop. Arianna notices a text from her friend about a breakup, and she begins driving again while texting. The video pans out and shows her car about to crash into another vehicle, and Arianna throws her arm over her friend in an attempt to protect her. After the crash, Arianna states shocking statistics about the number of distracted drivers (many of whom are teens). The video ends with a screengrab of Arianna’s last message to her friend she was texting while driving. Arianna graduated from Murfreesboro High School this May and will be attending Henderson State University, where she will major in Health and Human Performance.
