This week, the collective hearts of our Little Rock, Arkansas-area car accident lawyers went out to Tracy Morgan, the star of “Saturday Night Life” and “30 Rock” who gave his first-televised interview since the June 2014 crash that took the life of his close friend and mentor, and left the famous comic seriously injured.
During an interview on NBC’s “Today” in which Morgan, 46, appeared alongside his attorney, the comic said he remains unable to remember the car accident. In it, the vehicle that Morgan and his group were riding in was rear-ended on the New Jersey Turnpike by a Wal-Mart truck. The accident involved a half-dozen cars and trucks, and took the life of Morgan’s close friend, Jimmy Mack.
Morgan was initially in a coma after the accident. In addition to memory loss, he suffered a head injury and many broken bones. The comedian has reportedly received a settlement from Wal-Mart, and is now squarely focused on his physical recovery.
“I love comedy and I can’t wait to get back to it,” Morgan said on “Today.” “But right now my goal is just to heal and get better because I’m not 100 percent yet.”
It seems clear, as Morgan chose to appear on TV with his lawyer, that legal representation is playing a major role in the comedian’s ability to reclaim his life after this catastrophic accident.
