Our Little Rock auto accident attorneys want Arkansas drivers to be aware of the fact that the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday weekend ─ or Wed., Nov. 25th through Sun., Nov. 29th ─ is expected to be one of the most crowded road travel weekends of the year, according to research from AAA Travel.
The organization says that 46.9 million Americans will venture 50 miles or more away from home for Thanksgiving 2015. Most of those travelers will be road-trippers.
“Many thankful Americans continue to put a premium on traveling to spend the holiday with loved ones,” AAA President and CEO Marshall Doney said in a press release. “This Thanksgiving, more Americans will carve out time to visit friends and family since 2007.”
This year’s Thanksgiving travel forecast anticipates that roughly 300,000 more people will travel for Turkey Day this year over last year.
The good news for those travelers is that falling gas prices mean they will save nearly $265 million in gas compared to last year, according to AAA Travel.
Here are some of the other Thanksgiving holiday driving insights from AAA Travel:
- Driving remains the most common mode of Thanksgiving holiday travel.
- Driving is popular this time of year because airfare and hotel rates tend to rise.
- AAA expects to come to the aid of more than 360,000 stranded motorists this Thanksgiving weekend.
